On Route 66, I entered the Mojave Desert National Preserve, with my end goal that day being Vegas. Stopping in Goodsprings and other Fallout NV spots along the way, I made it into a mediocre hotel off the strip, deciding to treat myself to room service. Once in my room, I decided I couldn’t care less for seeing the strip and hit the hay. Waking up with the red desert sun in my eye, and went toward the Hoover Dam.
As I approached the Dam, my rusted out rear frame decided to give out while going downhill around a turn, with each acceleration causing me to swerve. Guiding my car off the road and then back into Boulder City, I stopped in the first auto shop I could find.
The small hotrod shop threw my car on the lift, and after inspecting the damage, we decided to jury rig a fix. Welding some plates onto the frame that held it together pretty well, I signed a waiver and headed back down to the dam. Although I was a few hours behind, I still made it to Zion area UT that evening.
