Blowing Rocks - 4/21/18
My mom wanted to take me to central Florida for some bird photography in places we've never been to for my birthday weekend. However, the cold front pushing through brought storms with it, making it a 100 percent chance of rain where we were supposed to be. So at five o'clock this morning, we changed plans and decides to visit some natural areas we haven't been to around the Jupiter area. We ended up visiting Cypress Creek, Riverbend Park, Johnathan Dickinson, Jupiter Lighthouse Trail, Busch Wildlife Center, and finally Blowing Rocks Preserve.
Blowing Rocks was one of my favorite stops we made today. I walked up and down the rock covered shoreline searching for interesting compositions. You could spend a year here and not explore every photo opportunity within the intricate rocks shaped by erosion. We timed our visit perfectly with the brewing storm and the peak of high tide, so the waves crashing into the rock formations were quite intense. On a couple occasions, I had to pick up my gear and dodge the incoming wall of water. I was less than a foot from getting all of the gear soaked. This preserve provided a challenging environment as well as interesting subjects which made it some of the most fun taking photos I have had.
