:27-31 Why would you ever complain, O Jacob, or, whine, Israel, saying, “God has lost track of me. He doesn’t care what happens to me”? Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening? God doesn’t come & go. God lasts. He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath. & he knows everything, inside & out.
He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire & drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings & soar like eagles, They run & don’t get tired, they walk & don’t lag behind.
:7-8 But blessed is the man who trusts me, God, the woman who sticks w/God. They’re like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers— Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf,
Serene & calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season.
:3-5 There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!
:16-18 So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by w/o his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us.
