Summer Smash always lights my fire, makes me reflective, and charges me with renewed passion. To be honest, I am sad to leave such incredible souls. This was truly one of the best weekends of my life. There’s no other place where you can feel at home and loved by so many people. It’s a life changing experience and a culture unlike any other. I woke up today feeling a bit different bc of the friends I hugged, the laughs we shared, the memories we made, and the conversations we had. So remember... . Post mudrun race pic. . Looks like a normal picture right? . Three guys who just did their first mud run. But someone is missing shoes, and that someone is me. . My shoes came off in the first mud pit of the course and were lost. I could of given up and found a way out or continued on and given me best. . I continued. . These two helped push me and even offered to carry me on some parts because they thought it was too painful to do barefoot. Because I’m so obsessed with the new German Chocolate Protein from @1stphorm Here is another recipe from @emilyfrisella because everyone needs “good for you” cookies! Link in bio for free shipping!! . 2-1/4C Almond flour . 1 teaspoon sea salt . 1 teaspoon baking soda . 1C @1stphorm Level-1 German Chocolate Cake Protein Powder . 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder . 2 large eggs . 1 teaspoon vanilla extract . 1/4C raw honey . 1/2C organic butter . 1/3C Dark Chocolate Chips . 1/3C Chopped Pecans . 1/3C Coconut Flakes . Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Combine all dry ingredients- except the chocolate chips, coconut & pecans in a large mixing bowl . Combine all wet ingredients in a smaller mixing bowl . Using a hand mixer, mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients until well combined. Fold in the dark chocolate chips, coconut & pecans . Chill the dough in refrigerator for 20-30 minutes. Use a medium sized cookie scoop or drop 1-1.5 tablespoon size balls of dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet . Bake cookies for about 7-9 minutes watching carefully. Bottoms will become a light golden brown. Tops will not brown much at all. Remove and let cool 5 min then place onto cooling rack. . Makes 30 cookies . PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION!! The first two videos are a perfect example of why to take videos! - You may notice in the first video that my right knee wobbles in slightly (my right!) as I get into more KB Snatches. I know i have imbalances and this is why i take video. So that i can see where they are in case I can’t feel them. Sometimes it’s very hard to be subjective. - Second video is much better (though it lacks the sick dance moves! I’ll try better to have moves like @chlojonsson next time!) You can see that my knee is much more stable. So what’s the difference? The second video was my third set of snatches, I should have been more fatigued. 👇🏻 I simply focused on that leg. When you create a mind muscle connection you can very easily change your form. I focused on that leg and my knee and made sure I was pushing it out. I know my other leg is stronger so knowing it’s going to do the right and safe movement isn’t a concern. By putting my focus on the wobbly knee I create that mind muscle connection (which so many people lack) and am able to keep form and strengthen up my weaker leg over time. 👊🏻 It’s a simple fix, so simple many wouldn’t think it would be effective. But I suggest trying this next time you see that you have a bit of an imbalance or are struggling through the last few reps. 🤟🏻 Final video is a great adaptation of planks for anyone who has back problems... especially scoliosis. I was researching ways to help minimize he pain I get from my #scoliosis and this was one i came up with. And trust me it’s tougher than it looks! 👍🏻 Challenge yourself. Be functional in your training. It’s about so much more than just looking good. Train for athletics and the aesthetics will come. Be healthy. #motivationmonday Getting to your goal is tough. If you aren’t used to doing something, it takes time to build it into a habit. Dieting down isn’t something I’m used to doing. I love bulking because of the amount of carbs I get to take in, especially rice 😋😅 It’s going to take time before I see my abs pop. That’s just the reality of it. I have to slowly adjust my nutrition as I go. I’m cutting calories and carbs as well as increasing my cardio as I move forward. I’m making sure that I still consume about 280g of carbs a day. I was at about 430g two weeks ago. I currently weigh 192lbs. I don’t have a number set for my ideal weight. Regardless of what the scale says, I just want to lean out without losing muscle mass and strength. We shall see how the next 10 or so weeks go! • Stay consistent, learn, and work your ass off! * * This boy right here is a constant reminder of why I chose to live a healthier life from the day I found out that I was pregnant. * He makes it hard sometimes to get to the gym, but he allows me to work out at home. * It’s easy to put him down for a nap and say “when he sleeps, I sleep”. Instead, I break out my mat and get my workout in. Sometimes I get the whole thing in, sometimes I’m lucky if I get 20 minutes. But those 20 minutes are better than the 0 minutes I would have gotten napping on the couch. * Always find a way to be better, even if it’s not what you had in mind. I would hope deep down inside, we would all want to be fit and healthy, for ourselves and family. One VERY important thing that can be helpful in your effort to stay in shape is to surround yourself with others who find fitness and health important. This is crucial because obesity is contagious and when we eat with other people, their food choices affect us, how much we eat, what we eat, and how we feel about it. We are always making decisions based on other people’s thoughts, actions and habits, which is why it’s so important to surround ourselves with people whose values support our healthy lifestyle. Habits are definitely contagious. Surrounding ourselves with active people who enjoy healthy foods and a healthy lifestyle, makes us more likely to make the same healthy choices. I went and got Athena. • I remember that day so clear, I was sitting at home very depressed after going through a break up, and I got the idea I wanted to go get a dog. Yeah I was 22 at the time but I was living at home due to complications. • So I call my dad ask him if he was fine with me getting a dog, he said that he was fine with it. I don’t have time to meal prep!🤷🏻‍♀️ - I’ve felt that way before many times in the past and often would just skip out on this essential weekly task. There were always excuses, always other things that I ‘had to do’ and always said ‘I’ll just do it next week.’ - Guess what? Week after week went by and I still came up with all the excuses to not do it. All this led to was either over-eating or under-eating and not getting any closer to reaching my goals or helping my family at all. - Yesterday afternoon we got home after being gone for 3.5 days and still had to unpack all of our stuff, work on laundry, catch up on housework, I had client work to do and meal prep was the last thing I wanted to do, let alone stop to get groceries. But I knew that it had to be done so I did it. - I didn’t spend hours in the kitchen, as I kept it simple and easy enough for all four of us to have enough lunches and a few suppers for this busy, busy week ahead. My husband helped with the burgers, kids helped portion out the food and we got it done! #teamwork - Meal prep is one of the best choices you can make when trying to develop a healthier lifestyle. Did you know that an eagle can foresee when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? Instead of hiding, the eagle will fly to some high point and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind can pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle soars above it. The eagle does not escape or hide from the storm instead it uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the stormy winds which others dread. Would it make a difference if we were able to prepare for the storms in our life? Would it make them easier if we saw then coming from miles away? Sometimes we see things coming and it doesn't even matter,  we cannot possibly prepare ourselves for what's to come. Sometimes we can make it easy to avoid certain situations that we know will bring us to a bad place, but most the time in our lives we don't even see the storm coming. Accepting that storms are inevitable in life will help. It's how you deal with them when it comes that shows our true strength. It has taken me almost 10 years of practice and it's still hard not to run for cover every time something bad happens. But what I've learned from running: the storm moves to find you, so it's pointless and you can hide but when you emerge the small storm may have turned into a hurricane. You have to face it and deal with it as hard as it is. If you hold it in you are really only hurting yourself and it never really leaves. If you can hold on you will learn from this storm and when it tries to blow you down again it will not be as strong or maybe it's because you just got stronger. When the storm of life or challenges hit us, we can rise above them and soar like the eagle which ride the winds of the storm. Don’t be afraid of the storms or the challenges in your life. Use it to lift you higher in your life. I might not know all my Facebook friends personally but I believe that every woman and man has something going on that might seem horrendous and you need to know you can get through this!!!!! Ever have one of those times where you look at an old picture and you're taken back? I was looking through pictures and found this, and was like HOLY SH*T! . Man, did I love food and beer! Guess what, I STILL love food and beer, but my priorities have changed. The struggles haven’t. . We all have battles and struggles we don’t like to post about. I mean, social media is just for the highlights, not the lows, right?? Well, life isn’t just the highlights. . I showed this picture to someone recently, he asked how much do you weigh there? Truth is I don’t know. I was too embarrassed to step on a scale. I’m going to guess around if not over,300 lbs. . I was a type II diabetic. On two different medications for it. High blood pressure. High cholesterol. On medications for those. . A ticking time-bomb. I needed to make severe lifestyle changes, and my kids helped me get to work. . I am no longer on diabetes medicine and have been “diet controlled” for several years. I’m still on blood pressure and cholesterol, but there are some hereditary factors there. While research has shown, once a diabetic, always a diabetic.... Doctors have said I’m in the “pre-diabetic” stage. . There’s still room for improvement, and I’m working every day. Here are my 30 day results with 1st Phorm. (Nervous to post) In the top left photo I was dirty bulking. I had zero knowledge about what supplements to take or how to properly use nutrition to my advantage. I am hungry for success. Everyday has been a grind and a battle. One of the best ways to win against your inner demons is to simply show up for the fight. As my knowledge increases so do the results. I am coming from the side of the spectrum that doesn’t seem to get much attention. The side that struggles to gain weight. There has been so many days where I just want to give up but that is not my destiny. When I was a senior in High school I became very sick. I weighed about 145lb and become hospitalized for 8 gruesome months. During that time I lost and I lost until my lowest point at 90lb! Imagine seeing yourself in the mirror and all you see is skin and bones. It was horrific and I could not take care of myself. Fast forward to Dec of 2015 I joined the military at 112lb; two pounds below the minimum requirement. I was forced to gain the 2 additional pounds and was placed into a weight watchers program. During basic I gained 30lb of weight which was probably unhealthy. At this time I weighed maybe 140-145. Once I arrived at my first duty station through poor nutrition I lost back to 125-135lb. Transphormation start weight 143lb Current weight is at 147lb I want everyone to know that no matter where you are today you can DreamLaunch from where you are now. When you make that decision anything is possible. I hope that through my example you may find the inspiration to achieve your dreams. #iam1stphorm #dreams #fitnessmotivation
Gearing up for prep by switching to morning workouts. The afternoons will soon be dedicated to cardio and posing practice (with a little bit like this when the gym is empty lol). Trying to get the rhythm down is the hard part, because too often time is wasted getting to the gym and in the gym that adds up to "oh shit, I'm late for work!"
