yesterday was ridiculous. And fun! And long, by god was it long. We woke up at 4:45a and headed to the airport to drop off our stuff. I was sad to leave our trusty euro-car which I’d gotten pretty damn good at driving, if I do say so myself. The flight from Edinburgh to London was a breeze, we had an empty isle seat in our row so we laid down flat and slept the hour. Our connecting flight from London to Brussels was a bit more hectic. When we landed in Heathrow at 9:30a @brookbriana
and I had just about an hour to get our bags (which took a freaking eternity) navigate to another terminal via train, re-check put bags and get through security before our flight boarded at 10:30. It must have been comical seeing two girls, one of which was barefoot (me), hauling ass through the airport, each with a backpacking backpack on their back and a carry on backpack on their front, to catch a flight. We also missed the train station and ran all the way to the end of the terminal and had to turn and run back, an older couple sat at the bottom of the escalator we’d just ran up and laughed as we turned and ran back down. We had some issues at the baggage check which lost us time, but luckily some super handsome, kind dude at security let us to the front of the line. We had also sent @haley.sawtelle
off to get to the terminal and hold the flight for us since she didn’t have to check a bag, and part of us wondered if she made it to the terminal at all in the process. The good news is, she had. And we made our flight! The flight to Rome was easy, we sat next to a very VERY excited old woman who asked (in French and then broken English) if we would be willing to allow her the window seat since brook and I were doing crossword puzzles instead of looking out. Yesterday was packed with hilarious moments, but she might have been one of my favorites. She asked if we only spoke one language to which we, slightly embarrassed, answered yes. Then she counted off the languages she knew, they numbered 5. She was a little short of astonished that we only know English. And then, she said “I like Obama”
We did too.
That’s all, today Rome begins. Here we go!✨☺️🙌🏼
