has a shiny new landmark: a 150 metre high and 93 metre wide colossal picture frame. The #DubaiFrame
, which opened to the public on Jan 1, is located in Zabeel Park and offers visitors a 360 degree view of the city from its highest point. The gold-plated piece 'frames' Dubai's historic quarters—Deira and Karama, among them—as well as its glittering skyscrapers, most famously the Burj Khalifa. In essence, it symbolises the Middle Eastern hub’s dramatic transformation in the last couple of decades from a fishing port to a rapidly expanding megapolis with its eye firmly on the future. A museum on the ground floor chronicles this journey, while also painting a picture of what the city might look like in 2050.
