10 years back... 18th July, 2008 was the day the greatest superhero film and also 1 of the greatest films of all time released worldwide. It had been 1 of the best movie watching experiences I had ever had and the impact of this film on a generation of movie goers was just massive.
It solidified the #Batman
franchise, established #ChrisNolan
as 1 of the important filmmakers of our times, put #ChristianBale
in the A league of stars, set the tone for cutting trailers for the future, hell it made the Oscars increase the number of films nominated for best film from the following year.
And it gave us... The #Joker
... 1 of the Top 5 most iconic characters seen on film, which ended up being the final role of the great #HeathLedger
before his untimely demise. 10 years down, I still miss Heath and I miss what he had done with his #Joker
. The risk it was to cast the Brokeback Mountain actor as the main antagonist of a multi million dollar sequel, the comparisons to the Great #JackNicholson
and his Joker, the weight of expectation that was built once the trailer came out... The hype was just unimaginable. And boy had the movie and the Joker lived upto it's billing. Every moment of him onscreen had been electric and the character and the performance which had been constructed was everything people expected, but nothing like people could have imagined. It was magic, it was a celebration of the craft and an explosion of emotion within, knowing that the actor who had put his heart and soul out there, would never live to see the impact his performance had had on everyone who came to witness his final act. Heath would not be there to reap the benefits of the stardom this movie and role would bring him. Heath was gone!
I think about Heath's joker a lot, I'm sure many of us do, but the images and moments he gave us were truly stuff of legend. #TheDarkKnight
is a spectacular cinematic achievement and will always remain etched in our memories as an event which happened in our lifetime which we were fortunate enough to be alive to experience.
The Joker sure put a smile on all our faces, the night was darkest before the dawn and dawn definitely came!
