First ever take on M31 Andromeda Galaxy. This picture was taken using a DSLR without any kind of tracking. 300 exposures of 1.6 seconds were stacked to form this image for a total of around 8 minute exposure time. Andromeda is the closest major galaxy from our own, about 2.5 million light-years away. It is bigger than and has more stars than the Milky Way. Moving closer and closer to us, It’s expected to collide with the Milky Way and merge into an even bigger galaxy in about 4 billion years. In the image Andromeda’s two satallite galaxies are also visible, M110 (lower left) and M32 (above Andromeda’s core).
