Now that I’m finally learning how to use my awesome @garmin
watch I’m loving all the cool reports it provides! So I use their auto step goals which adjusts itself based on your activity levels. So for instance when I was just getting started my step goals were around 3,000 or so bc I was very sedentary. But now that I’m more active they are usually around 8,000. And Skyler who is super active is around 10-12,000. As you can see, over the past week I hit or almost hit my step goals most days, but missed some days too. But it was fun to see that if you add it all up I exceeded the weekly number by a lot. Then there’s my intensity goal. I added the description they give for intensity goals and reasons. Although I can’t seem to figure out what HR range they are looking for. I exceeded my goal though so yay for another win! If you are trying to decide on a fitness tracker, my husband, sister, and I can’t recommend the Garmin Vivoactive enough. It’s just awesome! I had an Apple Watch but love this one so much more! BTW, hit me up if you’re interested in buying a used series 1 Apple Watch in gold with gray band. I used it for less than a year.
I love family hikes! All the rain this week has made everything so green and beautiful and the water is flowing. So peaceful! We did the short hike today, which was so easy for me now! This hike used to kick my ass. Even a month ago I was struggling with it some. Today, if felt short and easy. How cool is that?!?! I’m so happy with my progress lately! And I’m thrilled that I’m finally enjoying exercise and being active!
Dinner tonight was bomb! And Emerson actually liked the asparagus! 😳it was super tasty though! I ate 1/2C and skyler polished off the other 2.5C lol - perfect quick and easy healthy dinner after our hike!
What can I say about this trip?
For starters, not only was it, in a way, a celebration of my 6 months of fasting PLUS a celebration of having met my best friend two years ago, it is and has been an experience that I will always appreciate and never forget. 6 months ago, 53+ pounds heavier, I would have struggled so hard and probably given up on hiking up mountains and rocks to see all that nature has to offer. In a matter of three days I have walked and hiked 14 miles which included, summitting Mt. Cutler in the North Cheyenne Canon Park, visited the Red Rocks at Pikes National Park and taken in the absolute stillness, peace and quiet out on the trail and lastly explored Manitou Springs. All with the love of my life and best friend.
Colorado has been everything I wanted it to be and more.
I am so happy I decided to choose a healthier lifestyle, I am elated by the amount of support I have from my family and friends and I am proud to say that I will be continuing my journey until I finally get to where I want.

Fun fact: I always thought I was half Irish, but thanks to ancestryDNA I found out I’m only 13%! 🤷🏼♀️🍀
Who else ever craves a salad but in reality they are just craving ranch dressing?! 🙋🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤣🤤 I love ranch dressing...I mean healthy salads...🤦🏼♀️ lol anyway, I made this super tasty salad for lunch today but only ate a couple of bites so I’ll eat the rest for a snack later. Chicken strips, bacon, caramelized onions, tomatoes, dill pickles, pepper jack cheese, & ranch.
I did a body pump class at the gym today. Decided not to run today bc I’m pooped. Maybe I’ll take E on a walk this afternoon to get more steps in. Day 6 in a row of exercising! 💪🏼🏋🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️
This is mind blowing to me. In 2 1/2 months I have lost 50 pounds?! It has not been easy. In fact, some days are REALLY hard. I still have to make healthy food choices and drag my butt to the gym just like anyone else who wants to lose weight, but every day gets a little bit easier. I definitely have a long way to go in fixing my mental set when it comes to food, but I will forever be grateful for this tool, and would recommend this to anyone who has struggled with food addiction and obesity because #vsgsurgery
is literally saving my life🙌🏼 #vsg #vsgjourney #vsgweightloss #50poundsdown #wls #gethealthy #weightloss
Got my nails did today!!! Green is my favorite color and tomorrow is St Patty’s day so yay! ☘️
I have worked out 5 days in a row now!!! I’m so proud and am really loving it! Even the past couple of days when I haven’t really been feeling it and struggled a little more, I still wanted to be there! I love how my ability is improving! I so wish I had a body composition test done a month ago - I want to know so bad how much fat I’ve lost and muscle gained. It has to be something. Even though the damn scale hates me lol. Also, I love the back of my new shirt! And that I’m brave enough to wear it!
I did something today... I officially reached my WW goal weight! 🌟 This is the weight I feel comfortable at, and more importantly, the weight that my body wants me at (clearly, after months & months of maintaining🤣). I’m feeling super proud today. Now... onto maintenance!

I had to do a double take when I saw this. Is that really me?! The picture on the left is about 3 years ago, when I felt close to my best in a while. Athan, my oldest, was almost 2. •
I remember getting ready for that picture. I was a teacher at a preschool. My room was a scattered mess from everything I tried on and was sorely disappointed in. Even my biggest, semi-decent sweater showed every roll and bulge I had.
I had to wear those spanx that sucked everything in for you just so I could button my jeans. •
But I felt beautiful in that picture. I loved showing it off. My outward appearance shone much brighter than the girl who was hurting inside. She was scared of being judged and ridiculed for her weight. •
After all, we’ve all done it. Looked at a bigger person and even thought “wow, they really let themselves go.” Except, now I’ve been on the other side of it. I had people say to my face “you used to be like REALLY skinny”, “maybe don’t eat so much junk”. I found comfort in food because it was the only way I knew how to hide my feelings. •
What I found was that once I stopped caring about being judged and ONLY cared about how I really felt, THATS when things started to happen for me.
No matter where you are in your health: weight loss, weight gain, muscle building, general health...do it for YOU. I know you’ve heard this before but really think about what it means to you!
Beautiful girl, you were meant to do hard things. Don’t give up.

I’ve been getting asked to post more of what I eat in a day. I don’t always stop to take pics though. Yesterday I had 3/4 of a perfect bar for breakfast. Then a few crackers with cream cheese for a snack. For lunch and an afternoon snack I had an incredible bacon cheeseburger salad. And for dinner I had about 1/4 of a cauliflower crust pizza with some ranch. It was more carbs than I would like to be getting in a day...but such is life. Today I’m focusing more on low carb to get back to losing again.
