One of my biggest struggles that I don’t think I will ever figure out: the struggle between wanting to build and wanting to cut 😂 Building quality muscle tissue takes time. Woke up to a new low weigh in for this prep🙌🏼 . I was thinking (like always) lol but I always have people ask “how do you do it” and think i’m crazy for going to the gym 5/6 times a week, counting my macros daily, etc. The thing is...I don’t even give it a second thought, I just DO. I prep my meals, I push myself past my limits, I exercise regularly, I just do it because it’s what I love. Yes, there is a time and place for being all the way in (prep) and a time for more “freedom” and not being so strict. I CHOOSE to put myself through a prep, I CHOOSE to limit my calories and increase my exercise, I CHOOSE to compete because it lights a fire in me and it has my full interest/commitment. I have these goals that I set for myself and I KNOW that I will reach them, I know that I have the capability to and I do whatever I need to do in order to reach them. I’m not crazy, I’m just passionate.

Do you eat when you feel stressed? . Do you eat when you’re not hungry? . Do you eat to feel better/soothe anxiety, depression, sadness, anger? . Do you regularly eat to the point your past stuffed? . Do you feel powerless or out of control with food? . . These are all questions often asked of emotional or binge eaters. . . Food is so often used to satisfy much more than physical hunger but emotional hunger as well. Often triggered when we feel lonely, sad, anxious, stressed or bored. . . While the occasional eating for celebration and indulging once in awhile is completely normal and healthy. When it begins to become a coping mechanism to deal with bigger issues is when it starts to become a problem. . . Emotional eating is a temporary solution that in the moment, it feels like food will fix. The issue becomes that once you you’ve stopped eating, the feeling is still there plus the feelings of guilt and shame that are associated with a binge. The good news is that there is an answer and it starts with making an intentional effort to remain mindful. Not only of your food but emotions as well. . . Avoid making food your primary coping mechanism! . . Here’s a few things to look for with emotional eating and the triggers associated with them. . . Emotional Hunger . •Comes on suddenly, feels frantic and overwhelming •Need for instant satisfaction •Often crave specific foods, generally sugary carb filled, fatty foods •Fixation on those foods until absolutely nothing else will do •Hunger does not come from the stomach but from am intense craving in the mind •Hunger NOT satisfied when stuffed. Feeling uncontrollable urges to eat until sick or in pain . . Identifying Emotional Triggers . •Stress or anxiety, especially chronic stress. High levels of stress often lead to cravings of sugary, salty foods. •Emotional needs that we don’t know how to deal with or address. Often use food to silence the need temporarily. •Boredom or feelings of emptiness, having underlying feelings of being unfulfilled or dissatisfied with our lives we reach for food. •Lack of community or healthy relationships. •Childhood. If you were rewarded or given food to make you feel better.

Great week training with @marksmellybell and his crew. Worked on the big 3 put up some decent numbers. Deadlift day didn’t go as planned Bc of a 7 hr flight before hand ended with 585 lbs for 3, had a great squatting day PR 610 lbs for a single and the third day was bench ended with 445 lbs not my best but it went up super fast. Getting alittle better every day. As a group exercise instructor sometimes you have a workout that just doesn’t flow at all. It looks good on paper but it doesn’t translate well. I’m lucky enough to have been teaching for so long that this rarely happens to me, luckily, and today was probably one of the best workouts I’ve made. The music was on point, which can make or break a class, and everything flowed together perfectly. Even if both hit chest, I reasoned that there are different micro muscles involved between the two.🧠 . Thus, I strive to switch up how I target my chest every week.🤯 . The Dumbbell Bench Press is an essential exercise for those looking to build a strong chest.😎 . Start off by placing your dumbbells on top of your thighs.☝🏽 . Tighten your upper body by flexing your lats. 💪🏽 . Push bells back with your thighs as you swing back your upper body.👍🏽 . As you swing back, leave your back arced.🤬 . Push bells up by first focusing on contracting your chest.👏🏽 . Focus on your chest as you control the full scope of the set.👊🏽 . Try this one at different angles to hit different micro muscles!👌🏽 . I started off pressing 40 lbs/arm. I currently bench 70 lbs/arm. My goal is to press 120 lbs/arm. More than half way there!🎉🎯 . In high school I hurt my knee pretty bad playing basketball but I never went to the doctor to fully get diagnosed I just kind a lived with the pain for a while and then around 2012 I hurt my knee again, so went to the doctor come find out I completely tore my ACL and was probably living with a partial tear for a long time. Had reconstructive knee surgery healed up pretty good but I always have some type of pain especially after a hard workout or long day at work.
