The 2018 ‘Ohina Filmmaker's Lab is looking for its next class of filmmakers!

We created to give talented local filmmakers an opportunity to learn from some of the best working screenwriters and filmmakers today. We also want to support and develop these scripts into short films to help launch our 'Ohina fellows' careers.

On September 8th and 9th, six filmmakers will develop short screenplays and learn from guest mentor Dana Ledoux Miller, writer and story editor for , , , and . One filmmaker from the group will win the ʻOhina Greenlight Award and @OhinaFilms will help produce this script. It will premiere at the ʻOhina Short Film Showcase at the 2019 Hawaii International Film Festival (@HIFFHawaii ). Last year's inaugural Lab was mentored by co-screenwriter Joe Robert Cole, and the 'Ohina Greenlight Award went to @MitchelV 's . (Filmmaker @Alika_Maikau received a Special Judge's Award for his screenplay for @MaukaToMakaiFilm. ) Both shorts are currently in post-production, and two other fellows' films have also been shot: @Laulau_Erin 's @MoonandNightFilm and @TySanga 's The Thief.
