A few weeks ago, Beauty MNL held this super sale where you get one free lippie when you buy a specific item from one brand and another one when you buy from a different brand. So you get a total of four lippies by buying only two. Naturally, I took advantage of that sale. 😁
One of the products I bought was the shade MAT12 Vivid Matte Cream-to-Matte Lip Color (formerly known as Velvet Matte) from Maybelline. It's been on my wishlist for quite some time now. I just never got the chance to buy it because of one reason or the other.
MAT12 is a cool peachy nude. It's pretty similar to ColourPop's Bare Necessities but a tad bit darker. It's a fun color to use especially during the summer when it's all about peaches and corals. It's also perfect when creating light looks. It also kinda gives you that sweet, innocent, girl-next-door kind of charm.
The lipstick applied glossy and a bit sheer. I had to do several layers of it to achieve a coverage I'm satisfied with. It's not that pigmented. It ran a bit watery for me, leaving spots on my lips that are lighter than the others, particularly those with lip lines. So adequate lip prep is a must. Any dry skin will show up with this lippie.
This formula is probably the most challenging I had to deal with to date. It takes a long time to dry. I think around 15 minutes and while it's wet, it transfers like crazy. When it did dry, it dried into a matte finish with a sort of gloss on top. I wore this for half a day and it stayed pretty well without eating or drinking. I did see areas of wear after a couple of hours. It disappeared completely when I ate but it not transfer as much as I thought it would to my utensils.
So...not one my faves at the moment but it's something I can work with. It's challenging to use but the color pay off is good, not to mention that it looks so pretty in photos. 😁
