I lost count how many times I went into a workout, distracted with so many things. And not really even thinking about running before, then attempt to run several miles.
Yeah, the run doesn't go well.
On the flip side, if I spend time visualizing the workout, the pace, the course, shoes, water stops, even the clothes I'm going to wear. If goes so much better. I'm more focused and centered.
I found this works the same for racing. I try to spend time thinking about myself in all aspects of the race, as much as I can. I have found my racing improves.
I've been running for years, and this is something I still work on, and sometimes forget to do entirely. So it'll be a focus point for me!!
A new weeks starts tomorrow!! See the week! Conquer your goals in your mind. Then. Get. Running!!

Mentally I couldn't get here. I was stuck. Stuck. Don't get me wrong. I am running but 6-ish miles was my max. The weather is too hot and humid to do anything but complain. Summer time I notice more how my thighs constantly meet. 😒Sometimes I notice how some areas jiggle more than others. That always makes me feel awesome. Mom camp is in full effect so it's hard to find the time to run a long run. So I was stuck with many excuses. I told myself "today I'll run at least an hour" just to get over that hump. "Today I will run more than 6 miles." I didn't want to be stuck anymore. Whenever I get stuck I go back to basics. I try to remember what it was that gave me the drive to do this. That feeling of pride of finishing 26.2 miles. That feeling of #bostonstrong #mommystrong
that pushes me to be better. I needed today's run to be the moment I get myself back so I can be happier with my progress. I ran where I felt most comfortable. The weather was inviting. Hot but not incredibly humid. So I began. Once I reached 6 I gave myself till 8 miles to feel satisfied with my run. But when I reached mile 8 I felt too close to 10 to not push a little more. Then I remembered Chicago will be my 12th marathon. So I pushed a little more. It's definitely a mental game you play with yourself. No one's watching you so why push so hard? My answer is that every run, short or long, you choose to be better than your last run. You choose to be stronger. You choose to be faster. You choose to be out there doing what you love. Every run gives you that sense of empowerment. I didn't run my fastest time but I did finish strong.
