I've been there in the streets with my camera for the last three anniversaries of the 25th of January revolution and it feels really strange not to be in Cairo tomorrow ! It is totally not expected that something is actually going to happen but I just wanted to stroll the empty streets of Cairo with fellow journalists and photogarphers making hasty phone calls with our sources asking about any probable protests or clashes.
Here in beautiful Madrid I get this feeling that I can't find an English Word to describe except reminiscing, hence I will be publishing a series of images captured in and around the anniversaries of the revolution.
This picture was captured on January 22, 2015. It was back when the Muslim Brotherhood wasn't entirely crushed by the repressing and brutal security attacks upon the Islamic political group. The picture takes place in a protest held in preparation of the fourth anniversary of the revolution. Most of the participants of the protest were school students between 16 to 18 years old. It is worth noting that these young men were the pillar upon which the Islamist's protests kept going for nearly three years following the military takeover of power back in July 2013. The faces of the young men, their reactions, clothes and the red light of the flare makes a perfect composition for me and it is definitely one of my favorites.
