Happiness is a long soak in the bathtub after a hectic day of activity and exploration.
I love bathtubs. Life always seems better after a long soak in a bathtub. Whether I am physically tired, or mentally drained, or feeling like my whole world is falling apart, a long soak in the bathtub remedies everything.
The entire process of readying the bathtub is restorative for me. Filling the tub with the right amount of water so that I don't spill any while getting in.Ensuring that the water temperature is neither too hot nor too cold, but just right, for that moment when I slowly get in, one foot after the other. As I slide down, the water takes my body in, bit by bit, engulfing me in its warmth. I rest the small of my back against one side, close my eyes, and just let myself be. Gradually, the whirlwind of thoughts and to do lists, dissipate into nothingness. It's as if this machine, my body, consisting of hands, feet, organs, and mind, has slowly come to a standstill. There is no noise.
In this moment, I am like Po from Kung Fu, and I have found a way to channel my energies and find inner peace.
When I am traveling on a recce trip, I often choose hotels which allow me the comfort of a bathtub, especially if I have exploration plans which involve a lot of physical exertion.
In picture, I am in Maldives, at my beautiful resort, soaking in the jacuzzi bathtub, after a full day of snorkeling and water sports. The water jets are giving a hydro massage to my sore muscles while I enjoy the soothing scent of the rose petals.
