Problem: My family is homophobic. What should I do?
My personal view: It's totally unfortunate. And we gotta do something about it. If we are too young to make a living ourselves, never ever break up with our family impulsively, even if they are the ones being ridiculous. Grade the homophobic level of each of our family member. When we are ready, find the least homophobic one as a start, try to get used to talk to others about who we are. One by one, we will gain more confidence and things might be easier. Also, we may ask the ones who support us to help us come out to the more stubborn ones; we may leave some clues before we come out to them so that they will kind of figure out themselves, and this mental preparation will let them feel more comfortable. Family members are supposed to be understanding and supportive, some families changed their biased views after one of them came out. No matter what, remember, here, we are family. We will always love you.
