On a recent social media post released by The Australian Government they cautioned against the use of #coconutoil
in high amounts and instead recommended using the “healthier” alternative in the form of Canola Oil… ummm… sorry WHAT???🤥 Although I believe our government may have many things wrong and I am well aware of contradictory evidence in all matters of health and wellbeing, this has to be at the top of the list! There is definitely merit to the recommendation of all things in balance and consideration to how the oils is being used (frying, baking, topically etc) is also a factor… but unfortunately in NO situation is Canola Oil the “healthier” alternative.
Canola Oil is derived from the Rapeseed and undergoes a process of heating, treatment with hexane solvents & sodium hydroxide, and is also bleached and deodorized before it is packaged. ☣️... Coconut Oil on the other hand, assuming that it is Virgin Cold-Pressed has no further heating, refinement, bleaching or deodorizing and is considered essentially the RAW product. ✨
Up to 85% of Coconut Oil is made up of Medium-Chain Fatty Acids, which are NOT stored in adipose (fat) tissue 🙌 and do not require the intestinal lymphatic system or bile salts for absorption. Although there are many benefits to Coconut Oil, population research suggests that it increases HDL levels and NOT LDL & triglyceride levels ‼️reducing the risk of heart disease by scavenging any harmful cholesterol from the bloodstream.
The benefits from this wonderful gift from nature are endless (share your experience below) … Remember though… everything in balance and ethical sustainability is a must!
